50 Minutes to Save the World

If there is anything that binds us as humans, as animals, as mountains or as oceans; it is this planet we call home.
This realization alone calls for conservation.

A documentary Calling for Urgent Action

50 Minutes to Save the World is the film documentary for Save the Reef, a project of Karmagawa and a movement founded by philanthropist Tim Sykes, artist/photographer Mat Abad and film director Amir Zakeri. Save the Reef is dedicated to saving the world’s oceans and marine life through a number of initiatives, including the fast-growing @savethereef account on Instagram.

The documentary was filmed with the Karmagawa team over a 5 month period in 7 countries around the globe, documenting the degradation of local reefs and the critical state of the oceans. The documentary contains interviews by many marine biologists and locals, and underwater filming which retrieves shocking evidence that there’s one thing when you see depictions of reefs on the media… then it’s another when you see it for your own eyes.

For Amir, this was an eye opening experience:

"It’s so scary what’s happening to our oceans and how fast we’ve ruined it. Out of sight out of mind? Ignorance is bliss? Welp... that lead us here, and it's up to you and me to change this! Raising awareness and spreading the message is the first step in saving the reefs and our oceans! Share this video will all of your friends, family and followers on social media to help get the word out about this urgent crisis."

There's still time to save the world
